The Stark Purchase.
[Pia Press Association J » AUCKLAND, Attgifst 18. The Premier has sent the following reply to Mr Dargaville, M.H.R., suggesting that a Commission be appointed to investigate the Stark land purchase : " I shall submit your telegram to the Cabinet, but without evidence what could the Commission do ? If the indignant persons would only get any evidence, or tell ua what exact point is to be investigated, wo would act at once. Do they mean to say Messrs Seamen and Brewer should be «Us* missed, or will they name the conspirators? If there has been any fraud practised or* Government, I would do what I could tct bring the offenders to justice, but vague statements and indignation are not evidence."
