A constant traveller on the Northern lint* has called our attention. t« what he conoiders a very dangerous practice, at present indulged in by the employees working at the Stewart's Gnlly repairs, when proceeding to thelir work ©aoh morning, namely, that of jumping off the train while in motion. On Friday morning he observed one old man roll down the embankment in the direction of the water, who had considerable difficulty in saving himself a wet jacket. On Saturday morning four men fell, fortunately clear of the train. In the event of a fatal accident, the usual verdict would no doubt be returned, but we fail to sue why men's lives should bo jeopardised by the action of the railway authorities in not stopping the train for a minute to allow tho men to g«t safely out. If this practice in persisted in it might perhaps bo advisable to establish a branch of the St. John Ambulance close to the si>ot, for tho lvlief of any unfortunate who may require assistance.
