TEMPERANCE CONFERENCE.

WELLINGTON, Feb. 23. fhe Hons Messrs Ballance and Stout are ■expected to arrive here to-morrow, and Mr Richardson on Friday. The Temperance party in Wellington have "decided to appoint a deputation to •wait on the Government, with the object -of getting the provisions of the Licensing Act mere rigidly observed in this city than is said to be the case at present. The Temperance Conference commences -on Monday. Amongst the delegates present will. be Sir William Fox and Mr T. W. Glover (Wellington), Messrs A. Speight, R. Naal, Cox, and Carr (Auckland), Lock (Nelson), Sasthope (Wairarapa), J. R. Jago, D. C. Cameron and R. Fulton (Duaedin), J. Harding and R. C. Harding (Napie*), C. S. M'Dowell (Greymouth), and.J. T. Smith (Christchurch). At tho annual meeting of the Harbour Board to-day, Mr E. Pearco was elected Chairman.
