CHRISTCHURCH SOUTH-WEST.
The election of a Licensing Committee for the district of Chriatchurch South-west, the last content of the kind to be fought out in the City thia year, took place to-day at St Michael's schoolroom, Durham street. Some little additional interest was lent to the proceedings by the fact that the Temperance ticket was a different one from that submitted to the voters in the other districts, and was, perhaps, somewhat stronger, including, as it did, the names of Messrs G. Booth and F. W. Initt. Ab it was the last chance of putting any temperance men on a Christchurch Licensing Committee, the friends of total abstinence worked with much energy, while the supporters of the former Coinmittoe wcro not backward in their efforts on the other sido.
