Sa., — Would you kindly allow. r»e, through the columns of your journal, to convey my sincere thanks, not only to- His Eminence Cardinal Moran andthe Prelates who accompanied him, but also to tie thousands that assembled yesterday at "Mount Magdalen," to witnesß the ceremony of the laying of the foundation stone of tho first Magdalen Aaylum of NewZealand H I am also very grateful for the warm encouragement given mo in the great undertaking now before the peoplo, and trust that vory soon we shall bo able to proceed with the erection of the Aaylum I long to see completed. Permit me likewise to record publicly my Bentimentß of sincere gratitude to tbe several ladies and gentlemen of thia city and othor places who have sont me somany letter;- of congratulation on the foundation of the Magdalen. I regret that tho variety of duties whioh rested on me in making preparation for the reception of his Eminenco forced me toomit giving a special invitation to the large number of tho citiiens of Chrißtchurch who welcome in our midst the work inaugurated yesterday.
