HALF-HOLIDAY MOVEMENT.
WANGANUI, Nov. 20. The merchants and storekeepers met today to consider a petition of employees for a weekly half -holiday. Resolutions were passed in favour of granting the petition, provided the whole of the employers not present were unaninious, and that the shops be closed on Saturdays at two o'clock. Some still consider Thursday as the most suitable day, especially for the grocers, and an effort will be made by them to close on that day.
