HIGHLAND CROFTERS.
AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. A gentleman in Auckland who has written to the Premier making a suggestion as to the contemplated introduction of Highland Crofters, has received a reply from the Premier thanking him for his suggestions, which are regarded as well worthy of consideration, and will be forwarded to the Minister of Immigration. Abraham Ridings, Congregational minister, charged with indecent assault, was remanded for eight days, bail being allowed. Superintendent Thomson said he intended to make an investigation into the charges at Maungauroto. Three young lads had made admission tending to criminate prisoner. Prisoner's counsel had no objection to the remand. Prisoner believed he would be able to establish his innocence.
THAMES, Nov. 20. The Grahamstown Fire Brigade have decided to send a team of six men to Dunedin in January next, to take part in the competition of Colonial brigades.
