SUPREME COURT.
INVEKCARGILL, August 29. The Supreme Court was taken up yesterday afternoon and to-day with the hearing of Walter Guthrie and Co. v. E. Jonea, a claim of .£502 for furniture, &c.' Defendant, a solicitor in town, desiring to furnish, entered into a verbal agreement for terms. Plaintiffs alleged that the terms were two years, and credit for .£2OO only ; and as defendant had got goods to the amount claimed, they applied for the payment of .£3OO in the ordinary way. Defendant having declined to pay, on the ground that the term was three years for the whole of the goods purchased, plaintiffs brought an action to recover the entire amount. A special jury returned for plaintiffs for £469. The Court will be occupied all day to-morrow. There are several cases still to hear.
