SAWMILL BURNED DOWN. WELLINGTON, August 29. The funeral of Colonel Leokie took place to-day with full military honours. In reference to the rumour that Chief . Justice Sir James Prendorgast did not intend to return to the Colony, letters i received from him by the recent mail state that he hopes to be in New Zealand about Christmas. Mr H. D. Bell, Crown Prosecutor, is seriously ill, and his condition is precarious. Messrs Terry and Baillie's sawmill at Papawai, near Groytown, was burnt to the ground about five this morning. The mill was insured for J!GOO in the New Zealand. The engine is only slightly damaged, and a small quantity of sawn timber was saved. The origin of the fire is unknown.
