Thb Towk o» Baohinb, of whioh we have heard so muoh lately in the telegrams, is situated in the northern part' of Tonquin, about ninety miles, as near as we can judge, from the nearest point of the Chinese frontier. About fifty miles to the south-west of it is situated Hanoi, on the Bed Biver, whioh ii occupied by tbe Frenoh. The correspondent ■of tho 'London Times at Hong Kong, states that the heat at Hanoi, Haiphong, and Namdinh, where the Frenoh troops are stationed, is very great during the months of Angus*, September and October, and that bo serious operations oan take place until November at the earliest, although the Frenoh commander was exceedingly anxious to give the troops .something to do in order to keep up their ■morale. Meanwhile the threatened attaok on Baenlnhi by fcheSVenoti has not come off.
