Prospecting at Springfield.
- ... u» — —■ Belative to a statement whioh appeared in our issue of yesterday, with regard lo the diamond drill in use by the Springfield Coal Company, we have been requested — on the part of the proprietary— to make the following explanation : Although it is stated in the report of the Government Mining Department that this drill has been in part prooured by Btate aii, the assertion is altogether inoorrsot. 'lhe drill was purohased, absolutely and entirely by the Springfield Coal Com* psny, and is at the present moment their sole property. We believe that some time ago the Minister of Mines made enquiry as to the terms on whioh the apparatus conld De purohased from the Springfield Ooal Co., when done with. The desired information was furnished, and no further communication on the subjeot has passed.
