NEW PLYMOUTH, Jxrix 19. The steamer M'Gregor, which got on the south spit of the Waitara yesterday, was, owing to the heavy rain which fell causing a fresh in the river, enabled to float off this morning, and is now alongside the wherf.
INVEBOARGHLL," Jura 19. When the Bluff Harbour Board met today, Mr Craig objected to the minutes of the last adjourned meeting (at whioh the Chair* man was appointed) as being inaccurate. He explained what had been done, and held that the aotion then taken was illegal, Other members having 'moved the confirmation of the minutes, Mr Gross said he did not object to Mr Ward as Chairman, but he did object, to the hole and corner work by whioh he had been elected. He contended that the ad» journed meeting was irregular. Af ter*fuither disoußiion, the Chairman said he would resign if it was thought that he held office illegally ; but he was oertain that the majority were in his favour. At tbe meeting of the Land Board to-day, a deferred payment selector applied to transfer part of his seotion. The request was refused, the Aot making no provision for transferring any portion of a holding. The Board deoided to call the attention of the Minister of Lands to the case, with tbe view of n.aking provision in the amended Act now before Parliament, to allow selectors to transfer parts of their allotments.
