CHRISTOHUEOH. This Day. (Before Caleb Whitefoord, Esq., 8.M.) Dbuhkbnness.— Six first offenders— five men and one woman— were eaoh fined 6s for drunkenness. — Mary Eennedy was fined £1 or, in default, 48 hours' imprisonment. — George Dowd, who had been helplessly drunk while in charge of a horse and cart in the Ferry road, was fined £1. Dbttnkbnkbsb and Ass auit. — Oharles Brown was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Poulson street, Addington, using obscene language, resisting Constable Johnston, and assaulting Hodgson Holt at Sydenham. Sergeant Mason asked that tho caso might be remanded to the following day, as it appeared that tbe assault had been of a more serious character— one of intent to rob. The acoused objected, and asked that the man assaulted might give his evidence now. Hodgson Holt was oalled, and deposed that about 9.15 o'clock laat night, while he was in Sydenham, the accused caught hold of witness, and said, "Is that you, Holt ?" Witness replied, "It ia." He mado aome reference to witness being a Fenian, and prisoner and his mate knocked witnoss down, and inflicted a bad cut over the left eye. Prisoner said, " Down him and rob him," but tho assailants made no effort to rob witness. Prisoner here aaid ho mpected the witness aB much as his own brother. His Worship remarked that he took a rather singular way of showing his respect, and remanded the case to the following day, allowing bail— prisoner and one surety in £25. Neglecting to Peoyide.— Michael Murphy was accused of intonding to desert his wife and children. Mr M'Connel, for the defendant, stated that a warrant had been applied for to have the three youngest children sent to tho Industrial School. He applied for a remand to the following day, so that both cases could be heard timultaneously. Application granted. — A case against Elizabeth Born, for disobeying an ordor of tho Court, was adjourned for a week.
