MRS HAMPSON'S MISSION.

Though the close of Mrs Hampßon's mission is now approaching, the interest of the public, so far from flagging, has rather increased. Both the services in the Theatre yesterday were largely attended, and the utmost attention was manifested by thoßO present. In the evening the Theatre was densely packod in every part, and large number* of people had to be refused admission. The service was opened with a hymn, after which the Rev J. Orewes offered prayer. Mrs Hampson then read and expounded the fifth chapter of .Romans. After more singing and prayer, Mrs Hampson delivered an address on the words : " Behold I stand at the door and knock." She said that these words might be applied to many professing Christians. Christ was sometimes kept outside the Com-mittee-rooms of the church, and outside of the homes and business of church members. Jesus knocked at the door of the sinner's heart. Just as a law-abiding man, even a king, would not force the door of a house, so God knocked at the dosr of the heart for admission, but did not force himself in. There were many doors or barriers to the heart, such as formalism, shame, fear. She then described the spiritual benefits attending the entrance of Christ into the heart. The service was concluded with singing a hymn, after which the usual enquirers' meeting, which was largely attended, was held. The service last night was the concluding one of the series of ordinary services. Today, a service will be held at 12.30, and in the evening will be a special address to converts, who will be admitted to the stalls up to 7 p.m. After that hour tho Theatre will bo thrown open to the general public. Tomorrow, a service for ladies only will be held at 3 p.m., in the Wealeyan rchool, Durham street. There will -also be a Communion service in the evening in St Paul's, Presbyterian Church.
