HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday afternoon, when the foUowing members were present : — The Mayor of Christchurch (in the chair), the Mayor of Sydenham, and Mr J. G. Hawkes. HOSPITAL OOMMITTEE. The foUowing was read :— " The Hospital Committee report that during the fortnight ending August 20, 33 patients were admitted into the Hospital, and 24 were discharged, leaving 71 patients in the institution. During the Bame period two deaths occurred. For the corresponding period of last year there were 49 patients in the Hospital. The Committee are pleaaed to report that Messrs Duncan and Son have kindly undertaken to receive, at their seed warehouse, Cashel street, donations of flowers for the Hospital, aad to forward them from tioie to time as received. The Committee sanction the asphalting the spaoe in front of the dispensary and the back yard of the kitchen at a cost of £12 15b."
The report waß approved. HOUSB STEWARD'S BBFOBT. Tbe house steward's report for tbe quarter ending June 30 waß read. It showed disbursements to the amount of £1152 12a lld. COBBESPONDENCE. A letter from tho Colonial Becrotury's oflice was read, acknowledging and approving the uppointmeut of Mr and Mrs Smart as caretaker and matron of tho Hospital cottage,
Akaroa.
Letters from Geraldine Road Board, from Sydenham Borough Council, and Waimate Borough Council were read, acknowledging receipt of statement of the revenue and expenditure of the Hospital. A letter from Dr Macdonald waß read, informing the Board that the rules for vaccination had been fully carried out. ashbubton homb. The new regulations for the Ashburton Home were laid upon the table and duly approved. The Board after diapoaing of a number of charitable aid caaes, adjourned.
