Consols remain at 100£ ; New Zealand securities are to-day quoted as follows : — 5 per cent 10-40 loan, 104|, being a decline of 10s ; 5 per cent 1889 loan, 103j, a decline of £1 ; and 4£ per cent 1879, 1904 loan, lOOf, a decline of 10b. The markets for Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuffs and Australian tallow show no quotable change in price Bince yesterday.

SYDNEY, August 22 Fairly on the Run.

Seven fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to the Board of Health. The sufferers are a child named Ryder, at Waterloo, whose case had since proved fatal ; a man named Emerson, and a boy named Buford, residing in Sussex street ; a man named M'Callum, residing in Macqnarie street; a man named Oxenham, of Redfern; a man named Johnson, of Moore Park ; and a man named Fitzpatrick. The last mentioned called at the Infirmary for medical advice, when it was discovered that he was Buffering from small-pox. He and all the other sufferers have been removed to the Quarantine Station, and their various residences have been isolated.

TIMABU, At/gtjst 22. The Alleged Arson.

At the Magistrate's Court this morning, Abraham and Lewis Moses, of the Cash Palace Drapery, were charged with arson in connection with the late fire, and pleaded " Not Guilty." On the application of their counsel they were remanded until Friday next, when it is expected that some additional evidence may be forthcoming.

DUNEDIP, August 22. Dead. The Rev .W. Johnstone, Presbyterian Minister at Port Chalmers, died yesterday.
