"UNEMPLOYED MEETINGS

The hand fide unemployed met at 2 p.m. yesterday,. .according to advertisement, to Obtain >t thej signatures of thoso who wore in favour? ol' the delegates being sent to Wellington* when it was plainly and distinctly Sut to them as follows :— Proposed by Mr J. Unto—',' That Mossrs Bradshaw and Anderson boj_ent.to Wellington as delegates." Tho motion was seconded by Mr Hack nnd unanimously carried by the meeting. Tho above was put to the whole of the bona Jide unemployed. Ifc wat'then proposed that a full Committeo be formed out of the T number of bond jide unemployed then'prcsent, numbering between

300 and 400, when they elected cortain gentlemen from among thorn, making tho number l-i in all. It wis t hen proposed tint a Sub-Commit-tee sliould be formed to wait upon the | Benevi lenfc Association in connection with the Soup Kitchen Committee, to ascertain whefchf r it is possible to amalgamate the two funds for charitable relief. This proposition was alsj carried unanimously. Tho meeting then adjourned until 6.30 p.m. On resuming, a resolution was proposed that tho two delegates start for Wellington on June 19. This resolution was carried unanimously. Tho Committee express a hope from the above report of the proceedings that the public may be fully convinced of the genuineness of their proceedings, and that they aTe acting at the request and under the direction of a largo number of their fellowcorking men who are out of employment. The Committee have lists still open for the signatures of working men with a view of appealing to tho American or Borne other Government for opening up the means of transferring the unemployed to their shores, should the efforts of the delegates at Wellington be fruitless, and the Government not deficit to devise means for employing all the men nt present out of work.
