RAILWAY EMPLOYEES' BENEFIT SOCIETY.

For some time pasb it has been considered desirable by the members of the Dunedin and Christchuroh Societies that an amalgamation should take place. Therefore, with this viewit was arranged that a meeting of delegates appointed from each society should be convened. On (Tuesday evening the delegates from Dunedin, viz., Messrs Mathewson, Butcbart, Davidson, Wallace, Brebner and Mr De Clifford, the secretary of the Dunedin

Society, arrived. On Wednesday last and the following day these met in conference with the' Ghristchurch delegates consisting of Messrs Salmond, Heaton, Ashley, Blackmore and Turner, in the Secretary for Eailways office, Obristchuroh, at which the rules of the Societies received strict _ investigation, and alterations and additions were made whioh, in the opinion of the, assembled delegates, will render them satisfactory to the members and suitable to the requirements of each Society. The deliberations of the delegates have how to be placed before their respective general meetings for their approval, and when this is obtained, an amalgamation of the two Societies will be immediately consummated. A general meeting of members of the Christchuvch branoh of this Society is called for Thursday, Sapt. 4, at 8 o'clock p.m., on which occasion the privilege of members to travel on their Pence Cards to attend the meeting and return has been kindly authorised by the Department.
