A man named Andrew Shaft had his leg badly fractured to«day by a sack of wheat falling on it. ■ ] A society has been formed in Timaru under the name of the " Amalgamated Society of Sub-contractors," having for its object the protection of the different branches of the building trade. Mount Cook Biding of the Geraldine County has petitioned the Governor to declare it a separate County.
