SEFTON.

Messrs Boyd and Kier, the contractors for erecting the new Episcopalian Church at Befton, have made good progress with the work, and it is already evident that the admirablo neatness indicated by the plans will be fully borne out in the finished structure _ Access to the new building, which is of Gothic deaign, will be gained by a porch entrance on the north side, and there is a vestry entrance at the north-east corner. The floor space of the body of this pretty litfle church is only 30 by 20 feet, but it will afford ample accommodation for the existing requirements of the district. Looking eastward, the reading desk is placed on the left to the opening of the chancel, and the pulpit on the right. The cliancel has a width of ten feet by a depth of six feet eight inches, and the designs provide for a suitable altar table, and for an altar rail of ornamental iron and wood work. The vestry, eight feet square, forms a projection at the north-east corner. Along tho sides of tho building there are five Gothic windows, to be filled with cathedral tinted glass, and at either end is a triple light Gcthio window. All the interior wood-work is of varnished kauri, and in the scrolled ends of the seats, and the treatment of the supports of the open roof, appropriate ecclesiastical designs, have been used. The architect, Mr T. 8. Lambert, of Ohristchurch, has provided for a bell turret, and for various other additions of an ornamental character, but these are not to be built at present. The total cost of the church is estimated at about £500.
