LEESTON LIBRARY.
On Monday evening iast the second meeting of the Literary Society in connection with, the library was held in the public reading room. The chair was occupied by the Rev W. Worker, and there was a. large attendance. Dr Chapman read a paper on the "Policy of the Gtorernment in. connection with Native matters, past and present." The paper, which was attentively listened to by those present, at its close was freely discussed, and altogether a very pleasant evening was spent. The next meeting takes place on Monday week, when there" will he readings and songs.
