TIMARU STEEPLECHASES.

A publio meeting of persona interested in getting up a steeplechase meeting at Timaru this year was hold at the Grosvenor Hotel on Monday evening. There were 20 porsons present, and Mr F. Egan was voted to the chair. After some disoussion it was deoided to hold a steeple' chase meeting at Timaru on July 16, and that it be held in the samo paddocks as last year provided Captain Cain's permission could be obtained. Mr G. F. Clulee was appointed Secretary and Treasurer, and twenty stewards were appointed. A programme was decidod upon containing Handicap of lOOaors, Maiden Plate 40aovs, Timaru Cup 60aovs, and Consolation SOsovs. A sum of £30 was subscribed in the room. Judging by the interest taken in the matter the meeting is likely to be a success.
