THE AUSTRALIAN MUTUAL PROVIDENT SOCIETY.
» We draw the attention of our readers to an advertisement appearing elsewhere announoinga.lecturo on life assurance, which is to be delivered to-morrow evening at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lichfield street, by Mr Moritz Bowron, canvassing agent and lecturer for the Australian Mutual Provident Society, an institution well known for its general Btability and liberality. Mr Bowron is a moßt instructive and pleasing lecturer, and we trust tho publio will show their appreciation of the importance of the subject by meeting him with a full house. With the opportunities now afforded by_ Life Assuratfco Companies to enable provision to be made by working men for the future of their families, there is hardly any exonse for widows and children having to come upon publio sympathy. The Australian Mutual Provident Society was founded in Sydney in 1848. Since its establishment it has enjoyed a course of almost unparalleled success and prosperity. The management have earned the most thorough confidence and support of the publio of these Colonies, who, for new business, have placed it for the past three years in tho proud position of first in the British Empire. No doubt the success of this Sooiety is owing to the peculiarly favourable opportunity jt presents to those who join as members, its constitution bein^that of a mutual copartnership, in which the whole profits made on the business are divided among tho subscribers who assure their lives, thus rendering life assurance as good an investment of small periodical savings and earnings as can be found. Each member, has the option of either taking his share of the profits in cash himself, or leaving it to bo added to his policy and paid at his death. Some few years ago the principle upon which the business of this Society was being conducted was submitted to the investigation of statists of high standing, and experts in the business of assurance. The result was that it was placed upon a basis assuredly sound. The knowledge of this fact, coupled with the evidence of faithful and judicious management, has contributed to give the Society its present satisfactory position. • Those, however, who feel any interest in tho subject will do well to attend tho lecture by Mr Bowron, who will exhaust every branch of tho question for their instruction.
