In connection with the queation of who gave the first alarm, it is stated that some minutes beforo the bells rang a cabman had noticed that smoke was issuing from the premises, and seeing a light in the offices of Mesßrs Edwards, Bennett, and Co., at the corner of Manchester street, had knocked at the window, and called out that the bonded store was on fire, but was told by Borne one inßido to go away.
