ST MARK'S, SOUTH RAKAIA.

The services in this church on Easter Sunday were conducted by the Rev H. Collins, curate incumbent, and were exceedingly well attended, particularly in the evening. The sermons were from Ist Cor. v., 7-8, in the morning, and Phil, in., 20-21. The clergyman in the evening drew the congregation's attention to tho fact of his approaching departure, and stated that the Rev W. H. Elton, of Hokitika, hia successor, was expected about tho end of the present month. A great change for the better was noticeable in tho musical arrangements, owing to an American organ which has lately been purchased for the church by subscriptions raised in tho district. The organ is small but sweet toned ; it was played by a gentleman who has lately come to reside in the township. Tho church was very nicely decorated ; over the Communion table was the text " Because I live, ye shall live also," in letters of green leaves on white back-ground, surrounded by a ivreath of evergreens and flowers, earr.ed round the chancel and along the chancel rail.

It is tho Rev H. Collins' intention to reside at Christ's College, Chmtohurch, so that, being free from all parochial duties, he may give his whole attention to theological studios. The gentleman who officiated at the organ has kindly agreed to take in hand tho musical part, of the ordinary Sunday

services.
