At the weekly meefcing of fcho Waste Lands Board to-day, a letter was read from Mr Horace Bastings, Secretary to fche Waimea Plains Railway Company, urging thafc three chains should be reserved along the line for railway purposes. The Board having forwarded the resolution passed last woek to the Minister for Public Works, decided to refer Mr Bastings to Mr Macandrew. The matter is now asstt ming au aspect of general interest. Messrs Lumsden and Dcnniston, who strongly opposed the resolution passed at last meefcing, have written a letter to the Government embodying their views upon the subject, and urging that the width reserved originally should bo maintained.

The man 'Barfclefcfc, against whom there are several charges of obtaining money under false pretences, was to-day brought up again afc the Police Court, when a further remand was granted.

Peterson, charged with lunacy, will be dealt with on Saturday.
