Feb. 6. The -jody of John King, a shearer, was found in the Rangitata river yesterday. He had been missing since Feb. 1, and was worse for drink when last seen.
The second direct sliip for London from Timaru this season, will be fche Loweswatcr, now at Port Chalmers.
The annual parish festival, in connection with Sfc. Mary's Episcopalian Church, was attended by fully 2000 persons principally children.
The temperate weather during past week has greatly checked sickness in Timaru and the disti'i A, but the deaths are still above the average.
Uncle Tom's Cabin Company are drawing excellent \ouses here.
