LYTTELTON.
The Lyttelton election passed ofF quietly, little interest being shown. Mr Holmes was the only candidate who did any canvusjing. About *6.30 p.m. tho result of the poll was declared ty Mr Fielder, the Returning Officer, to be as follows : — Harvey Hawkins 132 J. D. Macpherson ... ••• 131 H.Macdonald 117 William Holmes ... ••• 73 ne, therefore, declared the three first, who are the retiring members, duly elected.
