The batsman retired, amidst tremendous cheering, for the grand acore .of 66 ; eeven for 135. Emmett took Greenwood'a place, but after making 1 was stumped by Buchanan, to whom the ball waa cleverly sent in by Smith ; eight for 136. Lillywhite then went in, but waa immediately caught by Beade off his own howling ; nine for 136. Southerton took Lilly white's place, and started with a Bingle off Beade, and up to lunch time had made 2. After lunoh, Hayward bowled the first over. Scoring went on slowly until Southerton made a 3 off Beade. Armitage, in Beade'a next over, made two 3'a to leg. Howell then took the ball from Beade at twenty minutea past three, when the score stood at 157. Three minutes later Armitage was well caught by Galbraith at long-stop ; all out for 158. The All-Englanders now took the field, Galbraith and CroBS going to the wioket, Hill and Lillywhite bowling.
