ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

James Siddona, blaoksmith, attempted to commit suicide on Thursday afternoon, August 24, at his residenoo, Bangiora. It appoars that ho has not boon in good health for somo time, and was frequently in a very desponding state. During Thursday ho went to some of his frionds in the town, and bade thorn good-bye, but did not mention that ho intended to mako away with himself. At about half-past three o'olook ho went into a room and looked tho door. His wifo was absent at tho timo, but one of the neighbours hearing of this auspeotod something was wrong, and oalled in Messrs 0. Turner and S. Green, who live close to Siddons' house, They immediately burst opon the door, and found him hanging by a rope to tho ceiling. Thoy at onoo out him down and sent for medical assistance, when it was found that life was not extinob. Sidelong gradually rooovorod, and was fit to be romoved from his house by tho police yesterday., He was lodgod in the look-up, and will be brought up at tho Magistrates' Court this morning, on a charge of lunaoy. Had the aot not been disooverod for a fow minutes longer, death mast have resulted.
