«, HEATHCOTE. This Board met on Thursday, April 27. "Present — Messrs Manning, Kerr nnd Olephane. Mr Kerr acted as Chairman pro tem.—Jt was resolved that tenders bo callrd for impounding Oftttlo from off tho roads. -In reference to the roads and footpaths between Cashel and Horoford streets, Mr Manning reported that tho City Surveyor and himself had vmfced tho neighbourhood, and had arranged thafc an ostimato should bo mado and specifications drawn out for carrying out tho work.— Mr Olephane reported that ho and other members of tho Board bad waited upon tho Government re drainago of section 79 into th« railway drain, and was informod that tho Provincial Engineer would report upon the same, Mr Olephane thought it advisable to put in largo pipes alongside tho Gas-works roud, on private property, and stated that he would see the owner of tho property and report further •n the mattor next mooting.— The following resolutions wero passed :— " That Mr Burrell's I offer to make the road from his oorner to tho 1 Slaughte*-ynrdfl, under the supervision of the j Board,forthosumof £17, bo accepted " "That j tenders be United for forming tho streets in I Waltham aa soon as the Olerk can obtain the •peoifioations } also for shingling the Slaughter House road." "That a tender for ahingling Matheson's, Dunoan'e, and Alwin'a roads be accepted."— Upon Mr Attwood seeing tho Board and representing his case, ifc was rosolvod— "That the Drainago Board be written to, requesting that a oulvert be laid at the top of St. John's road to oarry off the water from that road into the main dram." Also, calling the Board's attention to the bnd state of the bridgo over tho city drain from off Sfc. John's road, and requesting that the stoam wharf oreok bo cleared, as it was blocked with woods, and therefore interfered with the drainage.— Oorroapondencewas read ; From Mr J. 0. Lea, asking permission to tako soil off Ihe footpath in Glouoeßter street Eost. As tho Board would require same itself, tho request oould not bo granted.— From Mr 0. Cuff, re drainago of Waltham. Messrs Olephane and the Foreman were deputed to Bee Mr Cuff and arrange tbo matter.— From Mr W. Wilson, re cloaning a oulvort between hia and Mr Langdown'a properties. The Foroman was ordered to attond to the aame.— From Mr S. Pearce, complaining of a nuisance caused by the foul state of a neighbour's gutter and pig-stioa. The Olerk wat ordered to attend to the same.— From Mr Thomas Wilson, re oloaring oreek from St John's road to tho atoam wharf, Btating that ho and others interested aro, willing to pay half tho cost of the same. It was agreed that the work bo dono. —From Mr 0. N. 801 l re drainage of Phillipstown. It was decided that Mr Manning ahould boo Mr 8011, and got the matter settled.—From Dr Deamer, stating thafc ho was attending two cases of scarlet fever in the distriot.— From Mrs Shirley Gow, complaining of a nuisance caused by tho foul state of a neighbour's' pig-stioa. Tho Olerk was ordered to attend to tho matter.— From tho Olerk to tho Drainage Board, stating that tho Board had commenced operations in oponing up tho Ferry road drain.— Messrs Farland and Cronin waited on tho Board re paymont of rates. Tho matter waa roforrod to tho Olork to obtain further information.— Monies roooived from Mr Brighting, part oosfc of fencing gravel pit, £2 lOs j deposits, £18.— Aocounta to tho amount of £75 2a were passed for payment, and tho Board thon adjournod.
