The local preachers' meeting, in connection with the quarterly meeting, will be held in the large vestry of the Durham street church this evening. New Bkightok. — A meeting will be held at Hopkins' Hotel, New Brighton, this evening, to consider what steps should be taken to erect a bridge across the Avon a little below Paynton's, at Brighton. Ellesmeue Races. — In consequence of the Timaru races being held on April 16, it has been determined by the stewards to alter the date of the Ellesmere races from April 14 to April 10, so that horses may be able to attend both meetings. Theatee Royal. — " Isabella, or Woman's Life/ was the piece played at the Theatre last evening. There was only a moderate attendance. Mr Keogh's benefit takes placa to-night, and an attractive programme will be presented om the occasion, comprising " The Irish Emigrant " and " The Bronze Horse." Eaethqtjake. — Two Bhocks of earthquake were felt in Lyttelton early this morning, shortly after midnight. The first took place at ten minutes past 1 2 o'clock, and the Becond five minutes later. The shocks were not of long duration, and appeared to run from east to west. The shocks were distinctly felt by a large number of the inhabitants, and iras »Ibo felt by persons living at Opawa. The Kennedy Family. — These artistes again attracted a full house last evening, the front rows particularly being well filled. The programme was a very excellent one, and several items by Mr Kennedy were redemanded. There will bo a change of programme this evening. Hope of Chhistchukch Lodge ov Good Teuplaes. — The ÜBual weekly meeting of the lodge was held last evening in Mr Gee's schoolroom. Two new members were initiated into the first degree, and it was decided that next lodge night there Bhould be an entertainment. A degree session will be held in the Temperance Hall this evening, conducted by Bro. Hutton. Several committees 'hen brought up their reports, which were ordered to be laid on the table at next meeting. The chaplain then closed the lodge.
