I Nelson, Oct. 5, 10.35 a.m. The Airedale arrived here this morning from the North. She leaves this afternoon. The Governor and the Superintendent of Auckland intend to visit Waiuku respecting the divergence of the Waikato. The barque Cantero has been sold by order of the Vice- Admiralty Court. Mr Campbell was the purchaser at £500. The Comerang arrived at Auckland on Oct. 1 from Napier, and the Keera ou Oct. 2 from the same port. The United States frigate ZResaca sailed for Valparaiso on Oct. 2 ; the Cleopatra sailed for Lyttelton on Oct. 3, timber: laden ; and the Comerang for Napier on the same date. The news from Taranaki is limited. Titokowaru, on his way back from the Native meeting at Pariaka, passed through Opunake. His followers robbed the flax mills there of small articles, and stole 60 sheep belonging to the friendly Natives, which they refused to return The friendlies went in pursuit, but were driven back by the armed force of the rebels. The friendlies were very angry, held a meeting, and said the sheep stealing was a cause for fighting. The Europeans prevented their following Tito up to fight. Tito ultimately left the sheep, except ten, which had. been eaten. It is supposed that he was afraid of the friendlies fighting him. The flax mills in the various parbs of the province are working. There was a smart shock of earthquake at New Plymouth on Monday, Oct. a, at 2.20 p.m. It lasted fifteen seconds ; some chimnies were moved, and goods knocked off shelves. The Phoobe arrived here last night, and left early this morning for the North.
