* Lttteltin Colonists' Hall. — The proprietor of the original Punch and Judy has kindly consented to give a performance this evening in the Institute, for the benefit of the funds. Thbatre Rotal. — Such a programme as that submitted on Saturday evening could not fail to attract a capital house. The curtain rose to " Guy Mannering," the favourite burlesque of " The Fair One with the Golden Locks " terminating the performances. The Suez Mail. — The Canterbury portion of the mil via. Suez was landed at Hokitika, on Friday morning last, and will be brought over to Christchurch by the coach which leaves Hokitika at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning. Consequently, we may expect it on Wednesday evening. Volunteers. — In the New Zealand Gazette of Aug. 4, it is notified that Mr John Thomson has been appointed Captain in the Royal Irish Company CR.V. ; and that Mr Thomas Qttery Rayner has been appointed Honorary Assistant-Surgeon in the Temuka Company CR.V. The Unemplotbd.— We are informed by the Secretary that the number registered at the office in Gloucester street by 3 p.m. today, was 100 ; of whom only one has met with an engagement, having been four months out of work, with a wife and six children. The committee advertises a meet ing in Cathedral Square, to make a progress report, on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Presentation. — A testimonial, consisting of a handsome silver embossed cup and salver, engraved with an inscription in Hebrew and English, was yesterday presented to Mr D. Davis, at the Synagogue Chambers, by the Hebrew residents of this city, as a mark of recognition for services rendered to the congregation. The gift was handed to the recipient by Mr L. E. Nathan, the president of the Canterbury Jewish congregation, accompanied by a very feeling speech, which was responded to by Mr D. Davis, in appropriate terms. The proceedings created a good deal of interest among the members of the Jewish congregation.

The Revenues of the Pbovinces. — The following is compiled from a return laid before both Houses of Assembly, showing the receipts and expenditure of the several provinces of New Zealand for the year 1869. The total receipts of all the provinces, including the County of Westland, for 1869 amounted to £1,413,441 and the total expenditure to very nearly the same amount. The chief sources of revenue were as follows: — Proportion of consolidated revenue, £328,917 ; land revenue £240,822; goldfields receipts, £148,898 ; and incidental receipts including sinking funds released, £182,706. The total revenue of the Province of Welliagton for 1869 amounted to £97,186 ; out of which the general revenue contributed £24,258 and the released sinking-fund £15,187. While the land revenue of Wellington amounted to £10,925, that of Nelson reached £11,863 ; that of Canterbury £66,362; that of Otago, including Southland, £130,734. The goldfields yielded to Auckland a revenue of £41,179 ; to Nelson £32,599; to Westland £34,184; and to Otago £40,519.
