Precautions have been taken at Woolwich powder magazine against possible Fenian attempts. Police boats, are cruising in the Thames. The Government has granted £1000 for an expedition in search of Dr Livingstone. The receipts on the Suez Canal to the end of April, amount to £77,000. A family of seven persons has been murdered near Uxbridge. The murderer has been arrested. The crime was committed from motives of revenge. The troop-Bteamer Jumna, which passed through the Suez Canal, has returned home. The (Ecumenical Council has finished the discussion relative to the infallibility of the Pope, and the proclamation of the definition of papal infallibility will be read on St. Peter's day. Espartero has refused the Spanish Crown. Four Englishmen were carried off by brigands, near Gibraltar. The Government sent pressing orders "for the release of the captives, who are John Borel, his nephew, and two servants. Borel returned to Gibraltar to procure ransom, which had been fixed at £6000. Paris advices state that the editors of The JReveil and The Rappel have each been fined 1000 francs, with three months' imprisonment.
