Nameb, May 15, 5.20 p.m. jXpn May 6, twenty-seven men and thirty-eight women, who had been hiding since Ropata's success in Waioeka gorge, came in and surrendered at Opotiki. They say that Kooti has not been seen lately, and is either at Waimana or Waikaremoana. An expedition, under Colonel St John, left Opotiki on the 12th for Waimana to search for Kooti. Ropata's progress has been stopped by rains and floods. On the firat day out he captured one woman and two children who bad been hiding in the bush since the Ngatapa affair. The St Kilda had very bad weather on the coast.
