One hapic are in favour of opening up the district. It is expected that a deputation of the King and Waikato Natives will attend the meeting. Major Brown, of Taranaki, has resigned his seat in the General Assembly. A specimen quartz crushing machine is at work in Taranaki. A meeting of neutral and rebel Natives has been opened at Pariaka, thirty-five miles from New Plymouth. The business has not yet commenced, but appearances indicate a satisfactory result. A very warm welcome waa given to Mr Parris, Major Brown, and others, and also to friendly Natives.
