UNITED v. PAENGAROA

Taking the field with a depleted team, United were up against it from the start and at no stage of the game did they look dangerous. After 15 minutes play Conway (Paengaroa) scored the first try which was unconverted. Shortly afterwards McKenzie scored beneath the posts converting with an easy kick. From an opening by McKenzie Paengaroa again scored, half-time being called with the points: Paengaroa 11, United 0. United opened the second spell with some excellent back movements but couldn’t pierce the defence. Again McKenzie came to light and scored. Steevens adding points shortly afterwards with a try behind the posts. McKenzie converted. United in the latter stages of the game, pressed but could not stall off Paengaroa and a further try by McKenzie brought the final score, Paengaroa 22, United 0. The referee was Mr C. Donovan.

An A and B Junior match will be played at Jubilee Park next Saturday at 2-45 p.m., after which the team to play Tauranga on J une 6th will be selected.
