The fifth annual meeting of the Papatnoa Hall Society was held in the Hail on 2.6 th April last, there being about 25 members present. Mr W. A. Bennett presided. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman’s report was read as follows : Ladies and Gentlemen.—l have great pleasure in presenting you with my fifth annual report ot your Society. Your committee have held eight meetings during the year. In spite of difficult fimes we have shown a little profit nod also paid for some additions to the Hall We reduced our overdraft by £B. and it no-w stands at £lO4. Od. There aro no other liabilities and some out standing subscriptions aro now due. Last Easter we held a very successful sports meeting and danc9 and made a donation to the Papamoa Domain Board of the surn of £7 3s lid, The new additions to the Hall included a porch over the entrance door, a shed for the copper, and considerable additions to the ladies’ dressing room. The work was carried out i.y working baes under the supervision of n carpenter. Our sincere thanks are due to all those who assisted and to the ladies who arranged f r tho catering, etc,, in carrying out our dances The social committee need 3 revising as the work falls on too small a number and, if possible, should he enlarged so as to have relays for the various ■Lncea. It is with great regret I have to refer to the death of one of our members, Mr R. J. McPiko. and also of another mem her, Mr Lees, and I would ask all present to stand for one minute as a mark of respect and the Secretary to write conveying our sympathy to their relatives. There were a few changes on the committee during the year. Mr E. Morton declined the position of Vice President and Mr Reid was appointed to the position, and Mr Perkins added to the committee. Our thanks are again due to our Secretary who has faithfully carried out his arduous duties. I must also convey to ray colleagues my sincere thanks for their loyal support during the last year and wish that ycur Society will soon be in a position of having their liability on the Hall completely cleared off” The balance sheet was read by the Secretary. Mr G. Whiteside, and was adopted. The following officials were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr G, Ward ; VicePresident, Mr H. Bear ; Committee, Messrs Perkins, T. Lees, J. Evans arid Mrs Riddell. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring President, Mr W. A. Bennett, who was not Beeking re election, having left the district.

The wives of tho committeemen were appointed a Social Committee with power to add. It was decided to hold a. working bee around the Hall in order to effect some necessary improvements. The meeting then closed.
