School Committee
The monthly meeting of the Te Puka School Committee was he'd on Friday evening last, Mr W. O. j Knight presiding. Apology for j absence was received from Mr A. V, Bayliss. The action of the Chairman and Mr Palmer in procuring three show cases for -the school library was approved. The Secretary reported that the special grant from the Education Board for the renovation of school furniture was exhaustod, and as there was still a deal more to be done in this direction, it was Tesolved that the Education Board be asked for a further grant. Mr Bangs, representing several Relief workers, waited on the Committee with a request for a free issue of school books, free dental work and cocoa to needy families. —It was resolved that the Secretary write to the headmaster, forwarding names, with a recommendation that relief be granted. Mr Webster, headmaster, submitted a list of books required for the school library, with an in ventory of books on hand. —The following committee was appointed to go into the mattter : Messrs W. O. Knight, F Palmer, E. V. Sharp and the Secretary. It was resolved that local stationers be asked for quotations, for the books. Messrs Ryburn and Williams were appointed a visiting committee for the month of June. \ Rangiuru School Miss Williams. Mistress of the Rangiuru School, attended the meeting, with a request that certain work be done at the school. The Committee decided to have the work done, the renovation of , the flooring and desks to be left in the hands of Miss Williams and , Mr Blythe, and the renewal of . sash cords and building of shelv ’ ing for library books to be arranged for by Mr F. Palmer.
