HEAVY TRAFFIC LICENSING FEES

CONFERENCE AT TAURANGA A conference was held at Tauranga on Friday last between representatives of the Tauranga County Council, Borough Counoil and Te Puke Town Board for the purpose of arriving at an apportionment of heavy traffic licensing fees between the three bodies. There were present : Messrs R. King) J. Darragh and A. H. P, Briasco (County Council) } B. Dive, lies and Bambery (Borough Council, and H. Cuff and H. W# Earp (Te Puke Town Board). The Chairman (Mr King) proposed that the apportionment be the same as last year County 56 per cent, Borough 23 per cent, and the Town Board 21 per cent. Mr Dive moved an amendment that the allocation be : County Council 50 per cent, Borough Council 30 per oent and Town Board 20 per CBnt. After lengthy disousslons, both in the morning and afternoon it was found that no agreement could be arrived at, notwithstand ing that the Town Board representatives expressed their willingness to accept the 20 per cent proposed, as the two other bodies could not agree as to the division of the remaining 80 per cent. The matter will therefore probably be deferred for a Magisterial decision. '
