HOCKEY.

The Auckland Hockey Association rung the curtain down on the season last Friday, when the annual dinner and smoke concert was held. The function was most successful and enjoyable. The genial president, Mr. Elliot Davis, occupied the chair, and among those present were Mr. Wilson, several of the old members just back from active service, and representatives of kindred sports. A lengthy toast list was honoured, while the programme contributed by Messrs. Duncan, W. Rankin, H. B. Speight, J. C. Rennie, and J. S. D. Hanna, was greatly appreciated. The President presented the various grade champions with their trophies. The senior championship, won by Mt. Eden, carried the Davis Cup, while the Coleman Cup, for the first junior championship, also went to the hoys of the mountain suburb. The third juniors of the marine suburb took possession ■of the Hobsonville Cup, and also the Junior Challenge Cup. The Bernecker Shield, for the fourth grade championship, went to Wesley College for the next twelve months, while the Sommervil.le Club, of the fifth grade, gained the Soldiers' Memorial Cup. Wesley College also captured the Edgar Morgan Challenge Cup, the latest trophy donated by that staunch supporter of hockey, Mrs: Bernecker, of Hobsonville.

Although the Auckland Association possesses such a valuable set of trophies, the .president, Mr. Elliot Davis, has announced his intention of presenting another cup.

The annual dinner and "smoko" of the Mt. Eden Club will be held next Saturday night. The club has captured two championships during the season. The seniors once more gained the Davis Cup, while the second eleven for the first time accounted for the first junior honours.
