BUCKLAND
A surprise party was given by the residents of Buckland in the schoolroom on Friday, 28Ch August, the object of the event being to welcome Mr and Mrs 1 erry to the district. Dancing and games were the order of the evening.about twenty couples being present. The music was by Misses Smith and Laman, Mr E Bilkey acting as M C. The following is a list of the most noticeable dresses worn :— Mrs Perry, creme blouse, grey tweed skirt ; Mrs Bluck, black ; Mrs Bollard, brown silk; Mrs Court, black, relieved with creme; Mrs Davey, black; Mrs Harris black ; Mrs JohDston, black; Mrs Bilkey, maroon ; Madame de Barquer, green, relieved with pop pies; Mrs Gregory, navy blue; Miss Laman, pink blouse, black skirt; Miss Wright, black, relieved with white ; Miss Jones, fawn blouse, green trimmings; Miss Graham, navy blue, shot trimmings ; Miss Johnson, pale blue blouse, black skirt ; Miss Harris.white blouse, black skirt ; Mrs Kingsf ord, all black ; Miss M Smith, white. Mrs Gregory was voted belle... B G says he prefers nhorfibread to cocoauut cake... Why was M S absent ? Has the bakerboy not returned?. ..F W was piling on the jam with MG. W hat about the tailor made socks F...\Vas W P taking notes.. Why do those joung ladies from Vinegar Hill prefer dancing alo e ? Are partners scarce ?
