WAIKOMITI.

Things are looking up here, now-a-days. Our ' Mutual Improvement class ' is thriving well, and promises to be a flourishing organisation in the future. Our last meeting was something more than a debate on the stern realities of life. The subject for the evening was ' The Ideal Man ' and ' The Ideal Woman,' a gentleman tailing the latter and a lady the former. The man was ably dealt with by the assistant-teacher, who delighted her hearers with an excellent paper on this rather awkward question. The ' ideal woman ' was taken under the protection of Mr W , who caused considerable amusement, inasmuch as the ideal Dourtrayed by him struck hid hearers as being's striking resemblance to his living ideal. . .The girls say the boys are very slow, but I think the fault ia theirs, as here is leap-year nearly gone and weddings have been like the ' ideals '—only in the imagination. . A B and M H were doing a great mash at the Mutual on the 24th. A says he is thinking of starting a brick kiln. . W \V still clings to L H. ... J C and E Mcl were doing a great mash on Sunday. Look out, J; D Wis getting a big pair of kicking boots made . B B says there are no nice young men in Waikomiti. What about EP? When are E P and Miss B going to tie the knot ? Hurry up, B ; the cans are getting rusty. .Did .T C give the lollies to E on Sunday night, or did he eat them himself?... J W says he likes little women. Is it because J P is small, J ?
