BUCKLAND

A meeting of the Buckland Baud of Hope was held in the school on Thursday, the 27th. The programme was as follows : .Recitations by Miss .Huby Jones, Miss Alice Graham, Mr Williapi Kendall, and Mr F Pal man ; reading. Miss Walker ; address, Mr Edwards. Several of Hoyle's hymns were sung during the evening...On Friday evening, the 29th inst., a social was held in the Buck land school for the purpose of giving Mr and Mrs Perry a welcome to the district. The school was very nicely decorated with flowers. Music was provided by Miss Salman (violin), Misses Smith (violin and accordion) and Mr JBraithwaite (concertina). Mr E Bilkey acted as MCia a very satisfactory manner. Several games were played during the evening, and the social broke up at 2.30 a.m. The refreshments were provided by the ladies of the district, and were excellent. At the end a hearty vote of thanks was given to the ladies of the committee, and three cheers for Mr and Mrs Perry. • Aold LaDg Syne ' and 'He is a Jolly Good Fellow ' were then sung, and the people all left for home.
