KAIWAKA.
Our Christmas tree went off splendidly, con s idering the weather. One of the principal attractions was a lottery for a bride and bridegroom (wax), which was drawn by J.McH., who, when he saw he had drawn the winning ticket, in some confusion passed it to a young lady, but not being sufficiently up in slight-of-hand. he was detected, and a considerable amount of sport eventuated at " his expense. . . . J.B. is home again, and by the look of things in, and between the dances, he will soon want tin-canning.. ..Don't mention D.B. to M.S. just yet.... The upper-class were mostly conspicuous by their absence.... Who was belle? Well— J. 8.. knows.
