PORT ALBERT.
—Another Schnapper-land settler has left for Auckland, with a view of starting in the firewood business. — A strong arm man also contemplates seeking pastures new. — While the s.s. B. was at full speed tryin» to round a mangrove bush in the river, the other day a Maori spat down her funnel and put out the fire, thus leaving the vessel at the mercy of the waves, and but for the cool and energetic captain letting go the " mud hook " she would most likely have fouled the bush and the tide falling would have left her suspended in midair, necessitating the cutting down of the bush to get her afloat again.
