The little man's place of business Avas then a f eAv doors from Exchange Buildings, ancl a stout Amazonian Hibernian Avas employed by some persons in the locality for cleaning and dusting their offices. Upon the occasion referred to the said female Avas busily employed shaking some mats, Avliich kicked up a dust immediately opposite the door of our little hero, Avho Avas standing in the entrance ; and, finding himself enveloped in it, rushed out to the industrious mat-beater with 'My good Avoman, don't make such a dreadful dust just opposite my door.' To his astonishment and disgust the lady hastily snatched him up in her arms, exclaiming, 'Bless his heart; let me take him in out of the dust.' The poor little felloAV, struggling and kicking in her arms like a refractory baby Avas, after receiving a kiss from his greasy nurse, carried into his office, the merriment of a number of bystanders scarcely adding to his equanimity.
