FARMERS’ ENTERPRISE.
FLIES TURNED TO MANURE. SOLD AS FROG-RAISERS. Annoyed by tho millions of iiies which hovered over manure beds ifl mushroom farms, British farmers have devised a clever method of converting the nuisance into a paying corp. A huge suction fan is used to draw the flies over refrigerating coils which chill them, and they are dropped dormant into large cans. The cans are then sealed and the flies are shipped to France, where they arc sold to frograisers as stock food. Some English mushroom growers earn as much as from their flies as from their mushrooms.
