MOTOR-CYCLIST’S FATE
DEATH IN HOSPITAL. ACCIDENT AT MATAMATA. (By Telegraph. —Press Association]. HAMILTON, Sept. 28. Struck by the Franklin-Rotorua mail train at the Broadway railway crossing in the main street at Matamata at about 9 o’clock on Saturday morning, a motor-cyclist, Mr. S. Buchanan, aged 40, single, of Tc Poi, suffered severe head injuries from which he died at the Matamata Hospital at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
Mr. Buchanan Avas riding his motorcycle toward Matamata from Te Poi and Avlien he wns a feA\ r yards from the railway crossing he swerved to avoid the engine of the train and Avas hit by the second carriage. His bicycle fell aA\ r ay from the train and Avas not damaged. An inquest was opened before the coroner, Mr. A. J. Tong, at Matamata yesterday and Avas adjourned sine die after evidence of identification.
